India Post has invited online applications for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Recruitment 2026 to fill posts of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevak across various postal circles in the country. Interested and eligible candidates can submit their applications through the official website indiapost.gov.in
As per the official notification, the registration process began on January 30, 2026, and will close on February 14, 2026. The application submission window opened on February 1 and will remain active until February 16, 2026. Candidates who need to make corrections in their application forms will be able to do so during the correction window from February 17 to February 18, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for India Post GDS posts must be between 18 and 40 years of age as of the cut-off date mentioned in the notification.
In terms of educational qualification, applicants must have passed the Secondary School Examination (Class 10) from a recognized board approved by the Government of India or state governments. Passing marks in mathematics and English are mandatory.
Selection Process
The selection of candidates will be carried out on the basis of a system-generated merit list. The merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the Class 10 examination, with grades or points converted into marks and aggregated into a percentage up to four decimal places.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for physical verification of original documents before final engagement.
Application Fee
The application fee for India Post GDS Recruitment 2026 is ₹100 for candidates applying to notified divisions. However, female candidates, SC/ST applicants, person with benchmark disabilities (PwBD), and transwomen candidates are exempted from paying the fee.
The fee can be paid using a credit card, debit card, net banking, or UPI. Additional charges, if any, will be applicable as per banking norms.
